We are looking for a strong leader who can manage a location in a different market in the Midwest.
You will receive comprehensive training from the ground up at our Grimes location. After completing the training, you will be relocated to a different Midwest market.
Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial mindset and demonstrate strong leadership abilities to help “greenfield” the exciting new venture. Additionally, prior experience in HVAC is essential to effectively oversee operations and manage technicians in this specialized field.
What to Expect from the Des Moines Branch Support Location:
We recognize that solutions in different markets aren’t one size fits all. We’re seeking adaptable leaders who can respond to diverse situations on the ground. With 25 years of experience, we’re firmly established. Our documented manuals and procedures cover a wide range of departments including Human Resources, Marketing, Customer Service, Dispatching, Sales, Recruiting, and more. As the General Manager, you’ll have ample support and guidance at your fingertips to navigate your responsibilities effectively.
The Des Moines Branch Support location will handle:
- Booking incoming service calls and appointments
- Dispatching technicians for service calls
- Handling Human Resources functions
- Handling billing and invoicing
- Processing payroll
- Implementing marketing strategies
- Overseeing recruitment and hiring processes
At the branch location, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading and overseeing branch operations
- Supervising technicians and installation crews
- Maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet demand
- Driving both inside and outside sales efforts
- Assuming ownership of the branch’s profit and loss statement
- Participating in community engagement efforts
Other Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee industry-leading and documented Top Tech University classes to ensure the continuous development of service technicians.
- Shape the branch’s company culture by embodying the company’s values, specifically Respect, Understanding, Loyalty, Expertise, and Service.
- Promote enthusiasm and brand loyalty during daily huddles, team meetings, and 1:1’s.
- Collaborate and adhere to internal company resources, systems, and processes to establish a strong foothold in the market.
- Ensure a world-class customer experience by promptly addressing concerns and delivering exceptional service.
- Bring more energy than you take because you will set the tone every day for the entire organization.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as required to maintain efficient department operations.
General Manager Training Program:
The training will consist of:
- Understanding company policies and procedures.
- Shadowing experienced managers to grasp the day-to-day operations of the business.
- Service system training to understand how Golden Rule’s technicians engage with customers face-to-face.
- Training on operational excellence, showcasing Golden Rule’s methods for achieving success through daily huddles, 3-day call boards, and implementing the EOS business management system (Entrepreneurial Operating System).
- Crucial conversation and accountability training to effectively handle tough conversations and conduct productive 1:1 meetings with employees.
- Inventory management processes, encompassing ordering, stocking, and tracking inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability and minimize waste.
- Training in financial management, covering profit and loss statements, budgeting, and forecasting to grasp the financial dynamics of running a successful HVAC and plumbing business.
- Learning sales and marketing strategies aimed at attracting new customers, generating leads, and effectively promoting services within the local community.
Desired Skills and Experience:
The General Manager should possess the following skills, characteristics, and abilities:
- Prior HVAC experience is required.
- Ability to teach, coach, and mentor a group of individuals to produce positive results.
- Excellent leadership skills to inspire both personal and professional growth in our team members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong conflict management skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks at any given time.
- Strong personal desire for improvement and motivation.
- Strong personal desire for problem-solving and providing solutions.
- Good computer skills: knowledge of and proficiency in common office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and general software navigation.
