Golden Rule take its mission to conduct business according to life’s Golden Rule seriously. Finding meaningful ways to give back to the community and its residents is essential to the company’s daily work.

Beyond providing cost-effective plumbing, heating, and cooling services to existing homes, Golden Rule actively supports the Des Moines area by using its products and professional expertise to assist homeowners in unfortunate circumstances.

Staff at this respected vendor believe Golden Rule’s commitment to treating others as one wants to be treated likely prompted Habitat for Humanity to approach them to support its Rock the Block program.

“We knew Habitat built homes to help folks step out of homelessness but were not originally familiar with the program to help homeowners fix projects and issues that they might not be able to afford,” said Bobby Johnson, sales and marketing manager at Golden Rule.

Through Rock the Block, Habitat for Humanity offers collaborative home repair services for low-income homeowners, providing access to essential basics such as heating and plumbing repair. Golden Rule began working with Habitat for Humanity in 2017, streamlining the company’s process for identifying ways to help, thereby maximizing what it could support.

“We help Habitat’s dollars go farther,” said Johnson, noting that Golden Rule has helped with more than 40 home heater, water heater, and plumbing situations since collaborating with Habitat for Humanity in 2017.

In addition to partnering with Habitat for Humanity, Golden Rule supports the greater Des Moines area in other ways as well.

“We support Hope Ministries and the YMCA shelter. Both organizations help the homeless population in our community,” added Johnson.

Golden Rule performs additional philanthropic plumbing, heating, and cooling services through its program, Golden Rule Gives Back. Additionally, the contractor supports the

St. Jude’s Radiothon and the Animal Rescue League.

“This is exactly who we are,” noted Johnson. “We love to jump at opportunities that maximize what we can do to give back.”
