What factors affect the cost of an HVAC installation?

    • Efficiency of the unit: HVAC systems come in various efficiency scores. Efficiency is important because it determines the cost-effectiveness of running the system. You can save on energy bills with a more efficient system, but it costs more upfront to buy. The good news is there are high-efficiency systems for every budget, and an Golden Rule engineer can help you find the perfect one.
    • Unit add-ons: With the advent of smart home thermostats, whole-home air cleaners, and climate controls via zoning, customers have more options than ever to upgrade their heating and cooling systems. All of these come at additional costs of course. But you’ll never catch a Golden Rule System Engineer trying to sell you something you don’t need. We only bring them up because they’re cool to have!
    • Home renovations: Your new system may require additional renovations such as ductwork repairs or alterations to plumbing and electrical fixtures. The good news is we have service divisions that can help with everything, so you won’t need to juggle multiple contractors.

    Most Common HVAC Questions

    HVAC Installation FAQ

When you contact Golden Rule for service, we can help guide you through the entire process. First, you will be notified by our professionally trained dispatch team when your installer is on the way to your home. You receive a text message with a photo and information about your installer which is provided for your safety and peace of mind.

    When they arrive, they will:
    • 1. Review the installation process with you.
    • 2. Properly remove any existing equipment.
    • 3. Install the new equipment.
    • 4. Commission or review the startup of the new equipment. During that process, they may ask you questions if anything comes up that may differ from what you reviewed initially.

    • Our goal is to complete the full installation in one day between 8 in the morning till 4:30 in the afternoon; sometimes, it may take a little longer.

    • Generally, a furnace-only installation could range between $6,000 and 7,500 dollars. An air conditioning or heat pump alone could run between $6,000 and $7,500. A complete system will likely be in the $10,000 to $15,000 range. So, there’s a great range in the investment of your system for many factors such as the equipment size or the type.

    • We offer many financing options. It will be determined by factors such as the total project scope and financial goals. Our short-term option includes 0% interest if paid in full over 12 months, while our long-term option stretches out the term, with a reduced interest rate, to establish monthly payments that many customers feel more comfortable with.

    • In a gas system, the furnace and the air conditioner are separate pieces of equipment, so the answer is no; you do not have to replace both the indoor and outdoor units simultaneously. However, in an electric system, the furnace and air conditioner are working together. Therefore, if you replace a heat pump, you must replace the air handler and vice versa.

    • Most equipment carries a ten-year parts and equipment warranty. With proper maintenance, your equipment should be fine lasting that long.

    • The brand of the equipment matters only for reliability. What matters most is the company that will install the equipment and stand by it.
